How does the Covid-19 testing service work?
Our Covid-19 wastewater testing service has been deployed since March 2020 and is trusted by hundreds of unique entities across the country. Here is how it works:
- Biobot ships sampling kits to participating locations, including three 50mL falcon tubes for samples; insulation and ice packs for temperature maintenance and sample integrity; and a pre-paid overnight return shipping label for expedited delivery.
- Your wastewater treatment facility or field engineers collect a composite wastewater sample, then safely package and return it to Biobot’s lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sample collection and shipping protocols are provided via email and printed on sheets of paper in each kit.
- Biobot processes the sample, isolating the genetic material (RNA) of SARS-CoV-2, and analyzing the amount of the virus present via qPCR.
- Biobot expediently sends your unique report, contextualizing data with thousands of samples collected nationwide.
