How quickly can I expect to receive results?
You will receive a report for every sample, and our standard data turnaround time is 1-2 business days after sample receipt.
Who will receive the data from the samples I submit?
Your organization will receive a Biobot report that displays the data generated from your wastewater sample. This will be delivered via email as a PDF. The data will also be shared with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and uploaded into HHS Protect and the CDC NWSS.
Can we share the reports with our communities?
Yes, please do share your reports and data! We recommend that you share this information with local public health officials. We believe this work will have the greatest impact at county, state, and regional levels, and encourage you to reach out to local and state officials to support the expansion of wastewater surveillance. If you have any questions about how to interpret or communicate your data, please don’t hesitate to let contact us. We would be happy to work with you and your community.
Can you provide a list of all communities and wastewater treatment plants participating in the HHS Program?
We're not currently providing a full list of participating communities. However, we have facilitated local and regional groups for information sharing among the communities we work with.
How does Biobot maintain privacy and confidentiality?
We value the privacy of our customers and we are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your information.
Sewage data is not considered personally identifiable information. It is naturally aggregated and anonymized at its rawest form so sewage samples cannot be traced back to a specific toilet or individual. In addition, Biobot cannot share wastewater analysis results with anyone other than the customer, unless we obtain explicit consent.
Will I receive the sequencing data generated from my samples?
At this time, genomic sequencing data from wastewater samples will not be shared directly with you. Sequencing data will be uploaded to the National Center for Biotechnology Information data repository (NCBI SRA) by HHS. We do not know at this point when HHS will be uploading this data. However, we will make sure to keep you informed as soon as we know more.
